Google Merchant Center Guide
Is your product feed approved in Google Merchant Center? If you have never checked, your products are probably not showing in Shopping results.
Google Shopping ads drive 76% of retail search ad spend because they show your product with an image, price, and rating directly in search results. But Shopping ads require an approved Merchant Center feed. Most Shopify stores have the Google Sales Channel installed but never verified that their products are actually approved.
Common issues: missing GTINs, policy violations, incorrect pricing, landing page mismatches, and shipping configuration errors. Each can get products disapproved silently — you think your products are live but they are not showing.

How to fix this — step by step
Connect Shopify to Google Merchant Center
Install the Google and YouTube Sales Channel in Shopify. Connect your Google account. Verify and claim your website URL. This creates the foundation for your product feed.
Optimise product titles
Product titles in Merchant Center should include: Brand + Product Type + Key Attributes (colour, size, material). "Nike Air Max 90 White Running Shoes Size 10" ranks better than "Air Max 90."
Fix common disapprovals
Check Merchant Center Diagnostics for disapproved products. Common fixes: add GTINs/barcodes, match website price to feed price, ensure landing pages load fast, and remove promotional language from product descriptions.
Configure shipping and tax
Shipping rates in Merchant Center must match your Shopify shipping rates exactly. Tax settings must be accurate for your selling regions. Mismatches cause disapprovals.
Enable free listings and Performance Max
Free product listings in Google Shopping are available to all merchants. Enable them in Merchant Center. Then set up Performance Max campaigns for paid Shopping placement.
